For more than twenty years the Chemical Ecology Research Group at SimonFraser has provided a synergistic environment where the collaborative interactionsof biologists and chemists have resulted in a greater understanding ofthe semiochemical communication systems of a variety of insects. The presentation will provide a retrospective of a few of the projectsthat have been investigated by this group and will feature the importanceof chirality in insect pheromone communication channels with examples drawnfrom a variety of different orders. Detection techniques and bioassaymethodology used to determine semiochemical systems will also be highlighted.
